Candidates for spring commencement must apply by Jan. 25

Students qualified to graduate in April must apply for graduation by Friday, Jan. 25. Additional information and online applications for both graduate and undergraduate students are available at oakland.edu/graduate. 

After submitting an application, students must run a degree evaluation by logging into SAIL and reviewing “Progress to Degree.” Applicants should ensure that they have met with their academic advisor prior to applying to confirm that all requirements are met. A formal degree audit will be conducted once the graduation application is received by the Office of the Registrar.

Graduation candidates are required to attend the graduation fair to obtain all information needed for commencement. The spring graduation fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, in the OU bookstore located in the lower level of the Oakland Center. 

 
Students should stop by the Academic Affairs table to pick up commencement confirmation and guest tickets. All guests are required to have a ticket and tickets will only be available at the graduation fair. If a student is unable to attend the fair, they must send a family member or friend with a permission letter and photo ID in order to pick up tickets. At the fair, students will have the opportunity to purchase graduation regalia, class rings, diploma frames and more.

Undergraduates eligible to receive university honors (GPA of 3.6 and above) and/or school, departmental or conciliar honors will receive their honor cords to wear during the ceremony at the registration table when they receive their name card on the day of the ceremony.

Commencement ceremonies for April and June graduates will take place on Saturday, Apr. 27 at the Athletic O’Rena. Times are to be determined at a later date.
