Volunteer opportunities now available

Volunteering is a great way to stay connected to Oakland University while sharing your time and talent with current students. Whether you are a recent graduate looking to build upon your OU connections or a seasoned alumnus seeking new ways to get involved, we invite you to consider participating in the following events:

Commencement
Welcome our newest alumni by serving as a commencement host during the fall and winter commencement ceremonies. Alumni volunteers are needed to greet, congratulate and distribute programs to graduating seniors and their families. Fall commencement is December 15 at the Athletics O'rena.  There are three ceremonies for which we'll need volunteers, including 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Speed Networking
Modeled after the speed dating concept, speed networking connects alumni professionals and current students for multiple, five-minute long one-on-one networking sessions. Co-sponsored by OU Career Services and the OUAA, this event gives students the opportunity to hear immediate feedback from alumni professionals on anything from fine-tuning “elevator speeches” to tips on professional dress to improving resumes. The 2013 Speed Networking event is scheduled for Friday, February 8 in the Oakland Center. Registration will begin in January on the OUAA events calendar, but please contact Christina Simon at casimon2@oakland.edu if you are interested in participating.
