Degree and majors fair to explore Oakland's academic offerings

By Victoria Lipscomb, media relations intern

Oakland University students searching for the perfect major are invited to the 4th annual OU degrees and Majors fair. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms.

The purpose of this event is to introduce and offer insight to students about the 139 undergraduate degree programs that Oakland offers. More than 30 representatives will attend the event, from each college and several majors.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain exposure to all of the majors Oakland has to offer,” said Brittani Hobbs, communications coordinator of the First Year Advising Center. “This is an important event, it helps give students a better understanding and perspective on a particular major.”

Students will have the opportunity to explore the variety of majors and degrees OU offers. The event will be set up in speed dating format. Students will meet and converse with current OU students about their particular major. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with questions to gain the full benefit from the event.
