Tricia Westergaard - Spotlight on OU

2013 AUFD Spotlight on OU Questionnaire

Tricia Westergaard
Team Leader — Registrar

If you could have a super power what would you choose? Why?

The super power ability I would like is the ability to fly. It would be wonderful to soar freely through the sky, enjoying the breathtaking views.

What is your favorite children’s story?

My favorite children’s book is Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein. I have always enjoyed the funny poems, and continue to share them with my own children.

What is the kindest act you’ve ever seen done (by you or someone else)?

It was when a stranger stopped and simply asked “Are you OK?” I was living in a new city and didn’t have many friends, and it was a wonderful act of kindness when someone took time out from their own busy schedule to ask a stranger a simple question that demonstrated concern.

What is your favorite part of your day?

The best part of the day is the time I spend with my two sons, particularly when we are doing something fun together. The best part of my work day is when I feel like I have helped a student or colleague in some way.

What is your philanthropic passion?

When it comes to Oakland University, I strongly believe that each and every person within our community has a responsibility to demonstrate support of the university outside of his or her role. Individually, we can make a difference. Together, we can make an impact. I have consistently contributed to the AUFD because I want to show my support. In particular, I choose to support OU’s Reading Clinic. My children have personally benefited from the services of the Reading Clinic, and I plan to continue to support this program.

What do you feel is the best part of the All-University Fund Drive?

The best part of the AUFD is that you can contribute as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. Through a monthly payroll deduction, the contribution is painless!
