Oakland University invites area music lovers to enjoy some of the finest exponents of early music this fall. At on Sunday, Sept. 30, former OU faculty member Lyle Nordstrom will appear with Armonia Celeste, and on Sunday, Oct. 14, internationally renowned bass singer and lutenist Joel Frederiksen will perform. Both concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Armonia Celeste will perform songs from its recent CD, "Udite Amanti – Lovers Beware," which features music from mid-17th century Rome. Those interested in learning more about Nordstrom and Armonia Celeste can visit the group's website at armoniaceleste.com.

Frederiksen, an OU alumnus and student of Nordstrom, has made appearances in opera, oratorio and in concert on stages around the world. He is a true basso profondo – a voice type well suited to the repertoire of the early period. Frederiksen's concert will be "Orpheus, I Am," featuring repertoire from the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Those interested in learning more about the vocalist and lutenist can visit his website at joelfrederiksen.com.
