Survey to gauge campus sentiment on Chick-Fil-A controversy
Oakland University's food service company, Chartwells, is seeking input on whether it should continue to manage the Chick-Fil-A outlet in the Oakland Center food court in light of controversy over public comments that Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy made regarding same sex marriage. Readers can view the comments here.
Of concern to university officials is whether Cathy's remarks and Chick-Fil-A's presence on campus have the potential to compromise the Oakland's commitment to diversity, inclusion and understanding. Readers can view the university's officially adopted value statement here.
Two survey sites – outside the Chartwells Office in Oakland Center and in the Vandenberg Dining Center – will be staffed from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. starting on Wednesday Sept. 26, and continuing through Friday, Sept. 28. Participants will be asked to present their Oakland University ID card.
Members of the campus community can also compete the survey online, or via their smart phone using the QR code at right.
Survey results will be used only in the aggregate to assess campus interest in Chick-Fil-A given the recent controversy.
Input is being sought on whether the Chick-Fil-A outlet on campus should remain in light of controversy over comments made by Chick-Fil-A's CEO.
