For her many achievements, contributions, and positive work in the community, Oakland University’s own Mary Beth Snyder, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, is being recognized at the Esteemed Women of Michigan Luncheon.
Dr. Snyder is one of thirty women to be recognized at the annual event. The diverse honorees represent many fields, including academics, business, medical, civic service, and criminal justice.
Each woman has been selected for her extraordinary personal, volunteer and professional work, but above all, for the significant difference each has made in the lives of others.
"I can think of no one more deserving of this award than Mary Beth,” said Linda Harding, administrative assistant in the office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “Her deep and abiding commitment to the community and Oakland University students constantly amazes me, as she tirelessly lends her energies and support to both. I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to work with Mary Beth, and to witness daily her devotion to our students."
Since joining OU in 1994, Dr. Snyder’s work across campus has been far-reaching. Throughout the various roles she has served at OU, Dr. Snyder has worked to expand and develop programs and services, from assistance for students with disabilities to supporting new student organizations to affairs and activities in housing.
Richard Fekel, director of the Oakland Center and longtime colleague of Dr. Snyder, has been continually impressed with the work and the impact she has had on campus.
“Mary Beth Snyder is a visionary leader,” Fekel said. “Her contributions to campus life are astounding. During her tenure, Oakland University has transitioned into a mecca of student involvement and thriving activity. Mary Beth is a mentor, a teacher, and an inspiration to those she touches.”
The Esteemed Women of Michigan Luncheon will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester.
