Candidates for December graduation must apply by Sept. 28

Students who expect to graduate this December must apply for graduation by Friday, Sept. 28. Applications for both undergraduate and graduate students are available online at oakland.edu/gradinfo. 

Upon completion of the application and its submission, it is recommended students complete a degree audit in their Sail portal. The university will perform a formal audit after final grades have been submitted. Students with questions concerning their degree requirements should contact their academic adviser. For all graduation needs, students must attend the fall graduation fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 13, in the OU bookstore located in the lower level of the Oakland Center. 

Students should stop by the academic affairs table to pick up their commencement confirmation and guest tickets. Guest tickets are required and only available at the fair. If a student is unable to attend the fair, a family member or friend may pick up the guest tickets with a signed permission letter and photo ID. Students can also purchase graduation regalia, announcements, class rings, diploma frames and more.

Undergraduates eligible to receive university honors (GPA 3.6 and above) and/or school, departmental or conciliar honors will receive their honor cords at the registration table when they receive their name card on the day of the graduation ceremony.

Commencement for August and December degree candidates will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Oakland athletic O’rena. The ceremony schedule is as follows: 

9 a.m. – School of Business Administration
School of Education and Human Services
School of Health Sciences
School of Nursing

1 p.m. - All masters and doctoral graduates 

5 p.m. - College of Arts and Sciences
School of Engineering and Computer Science
Bachelor of Integrative Studies
