Jump-start your career with project management certificate

Get ahead of workforce competition and enroll in the Project Management Principles Certificate Course at Oakland University’s School of Business Administration. Focusing on management concepts broadly applicable across a wide range of professions, the course is designed to answer the needs of companies interested in finding high-level employees capable of managing the complex, global projects in today's work environment.

Project management is a rapidly expanding field and is widely recognized across a spectrum of industries such as pharmaceuticals, building construction, vehicles, electronics, computer software, and financial services. A project manager is the person accountable for accomplishing objectives on behalf of a client they represent, as well as having the ability to adapt to the various internal procedures of the contracting party and ensuring unity among the project team.

The Project Management Principles course at the SBA is designed to assist professionals with the PMI exam certification process, and broadly covers topics that are designed to help participants become valuable project managers in multiple industries. The eight knowledge areas examined during the three-module course include project management in terms of; integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications and risk management.

Targeted skills include creating clear and attainable project objectives, building project requirements, and managing the triple constraint for projects – cost, time and scope. Course materials provided with class utilize case-based instruction and participant learning will be reinforced through classroom discussions.

The SBA will host the Fall 2012 program on Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 12-13; 19-20, and 26-27.

Team leaders, business planning personnel, functional managers, process and performance improvement team members and those interested in learning the core knowledge tested on the Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional (PMP) exam are encouraged to enroll.

After completing the program, participants may choose to take the Project Management Institute Exam Review course or opt to sit for the exam to earn their PMP designation.

The cost for the program is $1,250 and includes all materials.
