Second Midwest Conference on Biology and Stem Cell Therapy

The Second Midwest Conference on Stem Cell Biology and Therapy will be held on Oakland University’s campus October 5 – 7, 2012. The conference will address the latest advancements in basic and applied stem cell research including developmental and age-related diseases, cancers, regenerative medicine, as well as drug design and discovery.

The conference, which is a collaborative endeavor between Oakland University and Beaumont Health System, will feature workshops, lectures, symposia, and poster presentations on selected topics by academic and industrial leaders from around the world.

“This is a very exciting time for biology and medicine,” said G. Rasul Chaudhry, Ph.D. Dr. Chaudhry works at Oakland as a Professor of Biological Sciences and chairs the conference’s organizing committee. Chaudhry believes “the conference has provided Oakland University tremendous visibility and will allow us to highlight our programs and take them to the next level.”

Donations and sponsorship opportunities are still available. “Progress is achieved through donations,” said Chaudhry. “Even a ten dollar donation to the cause is appreciated; every dollar is able to purchase supplies for students working in the lab.”
