Building business relationships the focus of next Lunch & Launch

Business leaders looking to build new business relationships or fine tune and improve existing relationships are invited to gather helpful tips and insights from John Carter, principal member at Witzke Berry Carter & Wander PLLC and leader of the Business Law and Commercial Transactions group, during the Macomb-OU INCubator's next Lunch and Launch event on Thursday, June 21.

Carter will discuss techniques to establish and maintain longer-term "win-win" relationships with customers, strategic suppliers and independent contractors, as well as issues associated with the process. He will also highlight the various types of contractual relationships available to Michigan businesses and key legal considerations designed that can help prevent and resolve potential conflict, minimize potential liability, share risk and expenses while meeting customer demands, and respond to changes in local market conditions.

Carter has practiced business and commercial law for 18 years and focuses on assisting Michigan entrepreneurs with business formation, commercial transactions, licensing and franchises, and business succession planning. He is an active member of the Business Law and Unincorporated Enterprises section of the Michigan Bar, and serves as a mentor and teacher with various Michigan entrepreneurial and small business organizations.

The free lecture, set for noon to 1 p.m. at the Macomb-OU INCubator, will include a question and answer period. Attendees should bring their own lunch, though beverages and dessert will be provided.

The incubator is located in the Velocity building at 6633 Eighteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Those interested in attending the lecture are asked to register in advance by contacting Joan Carleton at (586) 884-9324 or e-mailing macinc@oakland.edu.

The Macomb-OU INCubator provides comprehensive development and support to startup and emerging businesses with a focus on the defense, homeland security, advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. For more information, visit the incubator website at oakland.edu/macombouinc.
