Two distinguished alumni from Oakland University’s School of Nursing are enjoying great success in new positions at Beaumont Hospital in Troy.

Constance O’Malley, R.N., B.S.N., has been named the vice president and chief operating officer for the hospital, and Debra Guido-Allen, R.N., B.S.N., is the new vice president and chief nursing officer.

Both women earned their Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Oakland and went on to pursue careers in that field.

"Oakland's School of Nursing has been a part of the education process for so many leaders in the area and in the nursing field,” said Administrative Nursing Project Coordinator Amy Johnson.

“Having such successful alumni and excellent role models like Constance O' Malley and Debra Guido-Allen not only fills us with pride as an institution, but also translates to pride for our students who are receiving similar training, allowing them to dream loftier dreams and strive for higher goals with unlimited potential.”

O’Malley is transitioning to the Troy hospital from Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where she served as the vice president of Surgical Services, Trauma, Transplant and Ambulatory Services.

Before this, O’Malley worked as east region chief nursing officer and east region vice president of Cardiovascular Services for St. John Health System, and as chief operating officer and vice president for Patient Care Services, vice president of Operations, and vice president of Professional and Support Services at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. She has also served as vice president of Clinical Services for Providence Hospital.

Guido-Allen joined the Troy nursing management staff in 2001, where she was actively involved in the development of the Troy Professional Nurse Council. She also participated in the enhancement of many programs including the open-heart surgery and interventional cardiac catheterization programs. Additionally, O’Malley was part of a team responsible for opening three new units within the hospital.

Prior to her work at Beaumont-Troy, Guido-Allen held several different positions at Beaumont-Royal Oak, including assistant nurse manager in Cardiac Care and manager of Cardiovascular Research and the Anticoagulation Management Service.
