Oakland University’s AP Assembly has chosen to honor Eleanor Reynolds, assistant vice president and director of Undergraduate Admissions, as the 2012 Outstanding Administrative Professional.
A part of the OU community for four decades, Reynolds earned her bachelor’s degree at OU, and later completed her master’s degree, before returning to campus as Oakland’s director of University Housing in 1982. She assumed her current role in Academic Affairs in 2005. Mary Beth Synder, vice president for student affairs, nominated Reynolds for the Outstanding AP Award.
“One of the best things I’ve done at Oakland was to move Eleanor from a successful career in housing to admissions,” Snyder said. “She’s very smart, quick to adopt better ways of doing the work of the university, a great boss and an outstanding ambassador for our school. This award is just one way of showing our deep appreciation and respect for her as a colleague and a friend.”
Reynolds is active with Local College Access Networks in Pontiac and Avondale, which helps young people and their families prepare for the challenges of postsecondary education. She also contributes her time and talents in her church.
“I love what I do,” Reynolds explained. “I love working with students, and I have a wonderful team of colleagues who are committed to the university and providing the best service possible.”
Reynolds will be recognized during a reception to be held from 3 – 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, in the Oakland Center Banquet Room A. The entire university community is invited to attend.
The annual Outstanding Administrative Professional Award was introduced in 1984 to recognize the contributions of the AP community. This award is given to an AP who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in his or her professional role. For more information or to view a list of past winners, view the website.
