Honors College graduate reception

In longstanding tradition, The Honors College honored its 2012 graduates during a champagne reception at Meadow Brook Hall on April 21st.   Scattered throughout the mansion, students and their guests lunched and visited with fellow students, parents, OU administrators, faculty, alumni and staff. The luncheon was followed by a dessert buffet and ceremony in the ballroom.  Each student received a certificate of graduation from The Honors College and an alumni keychain from Oakland’s Alumni Association. Special awards were given for exceptional Honors College theses in Letters, Cultural Studies, and Sciences as well as Honors College Service and Academic Achievement awards.

At the end of the winter semester, The Honors College sponsored an event featuring student thesis research. This event allowed students to share their broad range of research findings with the larger Honors College and university community. Thesis projects ranged from Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis vs. Pre-Natal Genetic Screening: A Closer Look at Down Syndrome and the Ethics Involved to What Value Do Americans Put On Happiness? A Cross-Cultural Analysis with Spain.
