OU staff invited to celebrate fitness with Poker Walk Challenge

Oakland University staff members will celebrate this year’s National Employee Health and Fitness Day with its second annual Poker Walk Challenge.

Participants will pick up poker chips during a one-mile walk around campus and receive a hand of cards at the end of the walk. The three best poker hands will win prizes valued at $100 each. Other prizes will be awarded and teams will be eligible for prizes for best team costume, most enthusiastic and best team name.

The walk begins and ends at the Recreation Center. Prior to the walk, participants should check in at the Recreation Center. Snacks will be provided by Whole Foods. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunches and eat with their colleagues on the Recreation Center lawn or inside the building’s social lounge.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16. The registration deadline is noon on Monday, May 14. All OU employees (faculty, staff, and graduate assistants) are eligible to participate. Recreation Center membership is not required.
