Grizzly Gala a roaring success

Alumni, friends and community members shared an unforgettable evening April 20, 2012, while supporting student scholarships.

The OUAA's Grizzly Gala drew 200 guests to the Royal Park Hotel in downtown Rochester. The evening generated approximately $22,000 to directly benefit the OUAA Scholarship program. The OUAA has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to qualified OU students to date.

“The evening was filled with excitement and support from university departments, alumni, supporters, families of scholarship recipients, neighboring businesses, and the scholarship recipients themselves,” said Johnna Struck, SBA '85, event committee chair. “It was truly a pleasure to hear personal stories about how the Grizzly Gala Scholarship fund raiser makes a difference in students' lives.”

In addition to a strolling dinner, silent auction and live entertainment, the Grizzly Gala featured WDIV-TV Channel 4 newscaster Lauren Podell, CAS '08, as emcee.

This bi-annual event will return in 2014 -- stay tuned for details!
