OU students honored for contributing to their communities

As part of its 16th annual Outstanding Student Service Awards Celebration, the Michigan Campus Compact recently honored eight Oakland University students for their dedication and commitment to community service.

Violet Niedbala and Meaghan Walters received Commitment to Service Awards for their breadth or the depth of community involvement or service experiences. They were among just 31 students to receive this award.

Benjamin Eveslage, Constance Farlow, Paige Greve, Austin Simpson, Meagan Thrower, and David Tobin received Heart and Soul Awards, which are given to students to recognize their time, effort and personal commitment to their communities through service.

Each year, MiCC awards students from member colleges and universities across the state for their outstanding commitment to service-learning and civic engagement.

Michigan Campus Compact is a coalition of college and university presidents committed to fulfilling the public purpose of higher education. The organization promotes the education and commitment of Michigan college students to be civically engaged citizens, through creating and expanding academic, co-curricular and campus-wide opportunities for community service, service-learning and civic engagement.
