Oakland University's Center for Autism Research, Education and Support (OUCARES) is partnering with Joey Travolta, Hollywood actor, director and writer, to offer a two-week Film Camp for children ages 10 to 20 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. OUCARES Film Camp gives individuals with ASD - and a sibling or peer buddy in the same age group - an opportunity to write, direct, act in and edit a movie of their own.
This year’s Film Camp, the 7th annual, is set for Aug. 13-24 and activities will take place daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Oakland University’s Pawley Hall. On Saturday, October 27, OUCARES will host a Red Carpet Film Premiere at OU’s Oakland Center. The event, open to the public, will showcase the short film produced by the camp participants and celebrate their accomplishments.
Volunteers age 18 and older are needed to assist campers in the creative process. Volunteers are welcome for a day or for the whole two-week camp.
