OU charter school video to be featured on NBC's TODAY Show

A crew from NBC’s TODAY show visited the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences (DAAS), a charter school authorized by Oakland University, on Wednesday to produce a news feature on its student choir, soloists and director Angela Kee, creators of the popular “Detroit State of Mind” video.

Students and staff were thrilled to meet NBC News correspondent and former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager and other members of the visiting crew.

DAAS CEO Maurice Morton said, “We are very excited here at DAAS and look forward to a very positive story about Detroit and our students.” He added that he hopes to find out soon when the completed story will be aired.

DAAS is a K-8 charter school authorized by Oakland University. For more information about DAAS, visit daask12.com. For more information about Oakland University’s Office of Public School Academies and Urban Partnerships, visit oakland.edu/psa.
