Downtown Rochester's Main Street Makeover project slated for spring
A project to reconstruct downtown Rochester's Main Street from the Clinton River Bridge to the Paint Creek Bridge is set to begin on Monday, April 2.
The closure between Second Street and University Drive will begin on Friday, May 11, and be completed by Sunday, July 15. Detours will be clearly marked.
The closure will not affect access to businesses on Main Street and all sidewalks will remain open. Additionally, all parking lots will remain open. The only parking spaces not available will be the 94 spaces located on Main Street.
Aside from road improvements, this project, dubbed the “Main Street Makeover,” will improve water service to the area and add streetscape improvements to enhance the overall downtown experience. The entire project is planned to be completed this fall.
