OU community to address the challenge of health care needs
As a national debate persists over providing health care services to the American people, the Honors College at Oakland University will host a symposium titled "No Health Care for You?: Medical Care for Women, Infants, and Underserved Populations" on Tuesday, March 20.
During the symposium, Honors College students will join local physicians, faculty from the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and the dean of OU's School of Nursing in exploring the issues surrounding access to health care for diverse communities.
Topics of discussion will include cultural issues that can affect how people view health care in America, particularly foreign refugees who need access to health care information and resources.
The symposium will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in room 156 of North Foundation Hall on the campus of Oakland University. Interactive and printable maps are available at oakland.edu/map. Light refreshments will be served. Those planning to attend are encouraged to contact the Honors College at (248) 370-4450 to make reservations.
