Special event to focus on the benefits of charitable gift annuities
Oakland University’s Office of Planned Giving is set to host a special event designed to inform about the benefits of charitable gift annuities.
The Lunch and Learn event is set for noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, March 19, in the Oakland Center Gold Room C.
Those nearing retirement may be interested in creating a financial plan that is both philanthropic and fiscally sound.
A charitable gift annuity is a simple way to give while creating a new source of income. In the process, a gift is made to the university and the donor receives a fixed amount based on a set rate for life. Oakland then uses the remaining funds as directed by the donor.
There are many benefits to establishing a charitable gift annuity. In addition to fixed income for life, donors will receive a charitable income tax deduction to reduce taxes in the year the gift is made. Additionally, a portion of the annuity payment will be tax-free.
Learn more about how to make a gift that gives back. Seating is limited and reservations are required by Thursday, March 15. Attendees can RSVP to Laura Musachio at musachi2@oakland.edu.
