Women of OU Fashion Show designed to support scholarships
Several of Oakland University’s students, faculty and staff are set to put their best foot forward as they model in the Women of OU 2012 spring fashion show. The show, hosted by the Women of OU Critical Difference Scholarship Committee is designed to raise funds for student scholarships.
Organizers hope to brighten up the spring with an “Escape to the Tropics” theme, featuring clothes from Parisian, of the Village of Rochester Hills. Attendees will have the chance to win door prizes and giveaways.
The diverse group of models will include Golden Grizzlies from a variety of disciplines and departments, from former scholarship recipients to university vice presidents.
Awarded annually, the scholarship assists male and female students who are the single head of their household and who have had their education interrupted for at least one year. Recipients must have earned at least 16 credits at the university level with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
Communications major Emily Orlando, occupational safety and health major Karen Blair, and environmental science major Natalie Bogojevski were each awarded a Critical Difference Scholarship for 2011-12.
The fashion show is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms, which will be transformed into a lush and tropical midday getaway.
Tickets are $20 each and must be purchased by Tuesday, March 20. The ticket price will go towards supporting the OU Critical Difference Scholarship. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to register for the Women of OU Fashion Show, view the website.
