Students, alumni can register now for Legacy Day at OU
Attending Oakland University is a family tradition for many students, one that provides a unique set of memories and experiences shared with siblings, parents, grandparents and others.
To celebrate this exceptional group of students and alumni, the Oakland University Alumni Association is hosting the third annual Legacy Day at the O’Rena on Saturday, Feb. 11.
This free event allows current students, their families, and alumni to watch the Golden Grizzlies men's and women’s basketball teams take on Summit League foe Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne.
The OU men’s basketball program has seen back-to-back NCAA tournaments, consecutive Summit League regular season and tournament championships, along with three straight 20-win seasons. Meanwhile, the women’s basketball team advanced to a 20-win season and another appearance in The Summit League Championship. The men’s Saturday, Feb. 11, game will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.
“The number of current OU Legacy students is directly correlated to the meaningful experience that our alumni and their family members have had,” said Luke Fleer, associate director of Alumni Engagement. “Each positive experience has continued to influence our students, and demonstrates a meaningful and ongoing engagement with the university.”
OUAA will present a pre-game reception brunch for OU legacy students and alumni, family and guests in the Pioneer Room of the Rec Center. The brunch will begin at 10 a.m. and will include a buffet. The men’s game will follow at noon and the women’s game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
