For the last couple of years, Skyler Knapp and his older brother, Corbin, have been attending Film Camp at OUCARES, the Oakland University Center for Autism Research, Education and Support.
Although Corbin is on the autism spectrum, Skyler is not – but he comes
to camp because he enjoys sharing the experience with his brother. Skyler’s love for
his big brother and his experiences with OUCARES inspired him to do
something big. So, Skyler and his good friend Cullin Irvine, decided to
start their own foundation. Cullin and Skyler
co-founded the Look Up Foundation to support OUCARES and raised funds
selling stretch bracelets at their middle school and collecting other
donations. The two boys raised $403.00 which they presented to OUCARES
this week.

In the spirit of the boys’ interests, OUCARES will use the funds to
establish a Siblings Club for the siblings of children involved at
OUCARES. This club will be a valuable addition to OUCARES initiatives to
promote quality of life for children with ASD and their families.
OUCARES Director, Kathy Sweeney says she is looking forward to working
with Skyler and Cullin, “This was such an unexpected gift to OUCARES and
we are deeply moved at the efforts of these two young boys.”
