Festival of Writers to display creative student work
The work of many talented Oakland University student writers will be on display during the fall Festival of Writers to be held from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms.
The annual festival will feature a diverse collection of material, including academic writing, oral and dramatic presentations and multimedia presentations, along with research and group-oriented projects.
The event is expected to draw hundreds of submissions and even more visitors, according to Tina Hall, special lecturer in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. Hall says it is an excellent way for student writers to showcase their work in front of peers, professors and community members.
“It is a great learning experience and opportunity to network with students and professors, and to become engaged in the writing community here on OU's campus,” said Hall. “Participation in the event also looks great on a resume.”
Walk-in participants are welcome to showcase their work during the event, with set-up taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day. Several projectors will be available to display projects, but participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
