I want to extend my thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome I have received from the OU family since joining the university as the vice president for community engagement. It is a pleasure to be here, and I look forward to meeting even more alumni as events and networking opportunities might allow our paths to cross.
Oakland’s reputation in the region is exemplary as the university is becoming more and more recognized on the national playing field with the celebrated and historic opening of the OU William Beaumont School of Medicine, an outstanding record of scientific inquiry and creative endeavors, alumni who continue to impress in their careers and accomplishments, and our scholar-athletes who bring visibility to the university and allow us to take center stage.
Our recent announcement that Oakland has been selected to host a Republican presidential debate on November 9 is yet another example of the university’s outstanding reputation. Watch our website for more information as it becomes available.
I encourage you to visit the OU campus when you are in the area to see firsthand the growth of our physical landscape. For example, you won’t miss the new Human Health Building, well into construction at the corner of Squirrel and Walton Roads and set to open a year from this fall.
As alums and benefactors, you can be proud of the many accomplishments of your alma mater. Thank you for your support of Oakland University. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or the OU Alumni Association if we can be of assistance. Go Grizzlies!
Sincerely,
Eric Barritt
Vice President for Community Engagement
Division of University Relations
