OU to celebrate Veteran's Day with reception on Nov. 11

In recognition of military members throughout the nation, Oakland University will be hosting a special Veteran’s Day celebration from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the Oakland Center Banquet Room B.

Guest Speaker Scott Adams will share his experiences as a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a participant in the Wounded Warrior Program, which provides support to thousands of disabled veterans and their families after they return home from conflicts.

“Life after the military can be difficult for any veteran, but it is especially daunting for those who come back disabled,” said Robert Rietze, Oakland’s veteran liaison. “It’s important for everyone to understand what disabled veterans go through on the road to recovery. Hearing about their personal journey helps raise awareness of those issues and encourages us all to support our heroes as much as possible.”

OU students and staff are welcome to come share this opportunity to honor veterans and discover the wealth of contributions they make to enrich the local community and society at large. Light refreshments will be provided.

This event is sponsored by the Student Veterans of OU student organization.
