First Arts-After-Work is Fabulous Food and Amazing Jazz

MTD's inaugural Arts-After-Work was Thursday, September 22 and it was all we hoped for and more. The Chartwell Chef supplied hors d'oeuvres that were exceptional quality and well worth the $9 price. Particular favorites were the roasted vegetables and the bleu cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. You can see a peek preview of September 29's menu here.

The jazz concert was top flight and ended with a well-deserved standing ovation. Playing were OU jazz faculty Miles Brown on bass; Carl Cafagna, vocals and tenor sax; Vincent Chandler, trombone; Sean Dobbins, drums; Mark Kieme, alto sax; Mark Stone, vibes and congas; and Tad Weed on piano. They were joined by guest trumpeter Dwight Adams, who plays with Stevie Wonder's band. We were very fortunate to have Dwight for the evening because he travels so much. Miles Brown, OU's jazz coordinator, says, "When Stevie calls you to play, you go." Of course.

If you weren't able to make it for this concert we hope to see you at an upcoming Arts-After-Work event, soon. It's so simple! Food at five for $9 and show at six, pay what you wish! Really - what you wish. Or you can just come for the show. But we advise you to purchase your tickets ahead of time and avoid the box office line, especially for our theatre shows which have limited seating.
You can purchase online tickets at this link.
