Revamped OU Career Cycle provides year-by-year guide for students
The OU Career Cycle was revamped over the summer so it will be a more robust tool to prepare students for each year of college and beyond.
A new initiative, called Focus on the Finish Line, was added to the center of the OU Career Cycle. It provides a year-by-year guide for all Oakland University undergraduate students to help them focus on the steps necessary to reach the finish line: graduation and employment after OU.
The Focus on the Finish Line graphic contains links to the following information for a student's first, second, third and fourth year:
Tips: recommended action steps to complete
Toolbox: helpful worksheets and websites that correspond to the action steps
Videos: relevant videos for the action steps
These new additions complement the OU Career Cycle, which guides students as they plan, explore and develop their path from student to professional. It’s also a model for career exploration and planning, and assists students in understanding where they are in the process and identifies next steps.
Taking advantage of resources, like the OU Career Cycle, and proactively tracking academic and professional progress ensures students graduate on time and are ready for the world of work.
All students should begin using the OU Career Cycle their freshman year and throughout their college career. For more information, view the website at oakland.edu/finishline.
