Departmental Time Entry (DTE) for Bi-Weekly/Hourly (BW) Employees - Entering & Approving Time
As part of the Oakland University Lean Initiative, the Payroll Office is currently implementing Departmental Time Entry (DTE) for Hourly/Bi-Weekly (BW) Employees. This process is similar to DTE for Students, which was implemented in June, 2010.
DTE for BW began in July, 2011 with a pilot group that included five timekeepers and approximately 150 employees from the following departments:
Campus Cleaning
Grounds Maintenance
Plant Maintenance
Structural Maintenance
Central Heating Plant
University Housing
Oakland Center
Police Department
Phase II of the implementation process will take place in October, 2011 and will include most of the remaining departments. Notification has already been sent to timekeepers and approvers of departments who employ hourly or causal employees. If you have not yet received information regarding this process or if you need additional information, please contact the Payroll Office, Tina Tyrer, tyrer@oakland.edu, x3034.
One of the many tasks of the OU Payroll Lean Initiative was to eliminate the hand delivery of paper time sheets and time cards to the Payroll Office every pay period. The lean process has resulted in the following:
Leave Reports were implemented beginning in November, 2008. Over 750 electronic Leave Reports are submitted each month.
Departmental Time Entry (DTE) for Students (ST) was implemented in June, 2010. During the peak academic months, approximately 1,000 time entries for students are submitted every other week.
Departmental Time Entry (DTE) for Hourly/Bi-weekly (BW) Employees began implementation in July, 2011, and Phase II will be completed in October, 2011. Eventually, almost 500 hourly time entries will be submitted every other week.
The final phase of implementation for DTE for BW employees will be the overtime Time Sheets for Clerical Technical employees in 2012.
