OU Forms NEW Professional & Continuing Education (PACE) Unit

NEW CENTRALIZED PROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING EDUCATION WEBSITE LAUNCHES AT OU!

Members of Strategic Programs at Oakland University have been working extensively over the last six months to create a centralized campaign for professional and continuing education at Oakland University. While continuing education has been offered at OU for quite some time, it has never been presented as a coordinated and consistent unit. Strategic Programs, with the aid of Communications & Marketing, has sought out an end to the displaced continuing education programs and is excited to launch the new website called PACE (Professional & Continuing Education); to make exploring, contacting, and registering for continuing education programs much more convenient!

PACE is an Oakland University option for those looking to advance their education in a more versatile manner than standard degrees. Courses are offered in traditional and non-traditional formats, for non-credit. Programs are available at multiple locations in a classroom setting or virtually anywhere through online classes; students can begin, refocus, and/or advance their education to new heights. PACE can be used as a tool for organizations to develop their business models, reorganize their operations, and train their workforce. PACE grants students and professionals the ability to gain knowledge, empowerment, and certificates that can be used in their professions’ as well as in everyday life!

Adrienne Bass, Director of Strategic Programs, and Lori Crosse, Director of Operations and development have accomplished many meetings and negotiations to enable continuing education as a centralized unit a reality for Oakland University. The main goal of the new PACE site is to create a predominant center for professional and continuing education programs as well as for registration of these programs. This site will make navigating & registering for OUs continuing education programs easier than ever before; while still maintaining the uniqueness of the individual schools & colleges of OU.

Once fully operational, our qualified staff will be available to assist with program questions and finalizing registration. Linda Wallace has years of counseling experience and will be available to assist with educational planning and scheduling questions. Carrie Sliwinski has a broad range of program and university knowledge and will be available to respond to program and registration questions.

To aid in the development of the PACE website, Strategic Programs hired senior Eric Franchy as their summer marketing assistant. Majoring in Marketing, Eric was eager to gain real-world marketing experience over the summer. He has been able to offer a new perspective to the campaign through intuition and the knowledge on marketing that OU provides to its’ students.

The website is set for a preliminary early July launch, in which the course catalog will be available for viewing. Following in early August, the registration page will be available for registration of continuing education courses. On the PACE website, users can find information on PACE, PACE courses, and even make program inquiries. Any other news, developments, and information one may wish to know with respect to PACE is all easily accessible through the webpage as well.
