Why Wait? Campus Recreation Can Get The “New Year” Started Right!
Fall is a great time to start a fitness program. Like the kids going back to school and the change of seasons, it’s a great time to rethink and restart, so why wait for January? Make September your new year and start creating good habits for the upcoming holiday season and winter months. Take advantage of what the fall season and Campus Recreation has to offer and you’ll be looking good and feeling better for 2012.
Here are some ways Campus Recreation can get your “new year” started right…
Cooler temperatures of the fall season make it much nicer to get outside for some exercise…besides raking leaves and doing yard work or taking a walking fall color tour, you could try a YOGAHIKE or YOGA BIKE class or an OUTDOOR YOGA class at the Rec! Or maybe pick up one of the BIKE SHARE bikes for a ride across campus.
While the kids are learning new things in school, you could learn a new skill or try a new activity like taking our 108 SUN SALUTATIONS workshop, attending the campus WELLNESS FAIR, joining a BLAST group personal training program, or bring out the “kid” in you by playing an IM SPORT.
Fall is a great time to rejuvenate yourself. Enhance your mind, body, and spirit with a MASSAGE. Campus Recreation has a massage therapist on staff for both members and non-members. And half-hour and hourly rates are very affordable!
Strive for three C’s…convenience, continued education, and cost effective! The REC CENTER is conveniently located on campus to any building and/or office. Campus Recreation provides various forms of educational programs from CPR/FIRST AID TRAINING to sessions on topics across the dimensions of WELLNESS. And Campus Recreation MEMBERSHIPS are affordable options for faculty/staff and family members.
Just because it stays dark longer in the morning and gets dark earlier in the evening during the fall months, it doesn’t mean you can’t exercise! The Rec Center opens at 5:30 AM and closes at 11:00 PM Monday through Thursday (9:00 PM on Fridays) and provides a safe workout environment for everyone. LOCKER ROOMS and SHOWER facilities are available to make before-work or lunch time exercising more convenient.
Fall is a time for all the new TV shows and seasons. Reward yourself by taking time to watch your favorite show or check out a new one after you stop by the Rec Center and take a ZUMBA, CYCLE, YOGA, or other group exercise class. Most classes are free for members.
Missing the beach or those backyard summer pool parties? Did you know Campus Recreation has a POOL? The pool is open for lap or circle swimming which is excellent non-weight-bearing exercise. And you can finish off a refreshing swim with a dip in the spa. It’s sure to warm you up on a cool fall day!
Remember that it takes about 30 days to get into a fitness program. Let our PERSONAL TRAINERS help you stick to your program and break that 30 day mark with one-on-one sessions. If nothing else, get a FITNESS ASSESSMENT for some baseline, starting data about your personal fitness level.
Not sure about memberships? Never been to the Recreation Center? Try us out on PREVIEW DAY, September 13th! It’s FREE for everyone between 5:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Use the facility, take a class, or just tour and see what Campus Recreation is all about. Special activities on PREVIEW DAY 2011 such as a Pack The Track walking event between 12 noon and 1:00 p.m. and a ZUMBA party from 5:15-6:45 p.m. will be added to the regular line-up of programs and services provided for members.
