Seminar to form crisis communication plans set for June 29
While natural disasters and campus violence are uncommon, it is important for universities and organizations to have a communications plan to provide up to date information in case of an emergency.
Oakland University’s Office of the Provost is set to host a conference that will outline just how that – how to construct a valuable crisis communication plan. The meeting will take place from 1-2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, in Elliot Hall, room 242.
Titled, “Crafting an Effective Crisis Communication Plan,” the event is geared to help university administrators understand how to optimize campus safety and to share information efficiently and effectively.
The conference is designed for communications, student affairs, campus safety and university leaders, as well as legal and information technology professionals.
Crisis communication expert Cindy Lawson will offer instruction. Lawson is a consultant to many universities and is currently the assistant to the chancellor at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington.
