OU's Facilities Management has big plans for summer months
For Oakland University’s Facilities Management department, the summer months are a particularly busy time of the year.
Facilities Management currently has about 260 projects on the books right now, according to Terry Stollsteimer, associate vice president of the department. This summer, 60 projects are planned to be completed.
“Our business goes 12 months of the year,” Stollsteimer said. “There’s no such thing as a semester break or holiday – we work through all of it.”
Over this summer, priority projects include:
Normal repairs to parking lots and sidewalks all over campus. Cracks and bumps will be filled and smoothed.
Roofing on North Foundation Hall and Varner Hall – various sections of roof on both buildings will be replaced.
Campus-wide beautification of landscaping. The project includes planting more trees and replacing shrubs where needed.
Refurbishment of Dodge Hall’s elevator.
Surveillance cameras installed throughout campus, to assist OU Police.
Replacement of windows in Hamlin Hall.
Phase one of an exterior signage project. Directional signs around campus will be reworked to be easier to read in daytime or night. More directional kiosks also will be installed.
Renovations of OU’s Anton/Frankel Center in Mt. Clemens, which are scheduled for completion in time for the first classes in the fall 2011 semester.
And even though summer will eventually end, the list will go on…
