More than 40 alumni and friends attended a networking reception for School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) alumni at DTE headquarters in downtown Detroit. SECS Dean Louay Chamra and Ron May, senior vice president-Major Enterprise Projects at DTE, served as hosts for the evening. Chamra and May spoke about new initiatives at the SECS and DTE, including the new Clean Energy Research Center (CERC). Housed in SECS, the Center “will create an environment that will foster commercial partnerships, provide an educational platform for student research and clean energy curricula development, while providing an entrepreneurial atmosphere within the OU R&D community to allow technology transfer and commercialization of new technologies.” For more information abut the CERC, visit the SECS website at oakland.edu/CERC.
