OUCARES 6th Annual Family Fun Day to offer much more than fun

The Oakland University Center for Autism Research, Education and Support (OUCARES) will offer swimming, arts and crafts, a moonwalk, caricatures and more as part of annual 6th Annual Family Fun Day.

Created for families of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, the event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, in the OU Campus Recreation Center. Interactive and printable maps are available at oakland.edu/map.

A sensory room staffed by professionals from Kaufman Children's Center will be available, and families can also learn about available resources and meet with representatives from more than 20 organizations.

OUCARES integrates academic course work, knowledge and research to prepare professionals to be leaders in the autism community. Through numerous professional educational programs, support services for families and inclusion in the community, OUCARES encourages the exchange of ideas relating to autism spectrum disorders and fosters improved quality of life for individuals impacted by autism.
