SBA offers introduction to sound financial planning

The School of Business Administration at Oakland University is introducing a new program for people who want to become certified financial planners or who simply want to learn more about financial planning for their own purposes.

The two-week Financial Planning Boot Camp provides non-financial experts an introduction to the principles of financial planning and also serves as a introductory course to the two-year Certified Financial Plannerâ„¢ certificate program.

The course will cover the principles and analytic techniques of personal financial planning, focusing on income tax, investment, insurance, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning.

Classes will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on April 5, 7, 12 and 14, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 16. The course is required as part of the university's Financial Planning Certificate Program.
