Grassroots Grizzlies network promotes legislative awareness

Deep in the Information Age, Oakland University is developing a new information channel to keep students, faculty, alumni and community members up-to-date on the legislative issues affecting OU.

The Grassroots Grizzlies Advocacy Network is a new tool for Oakland’s Office of Government Relations to keep its constituents aware of legislative issues, elections, news, events and potential internships.

“Many organizations use tools like this,” said Michelle Lange, OU’s state relations director. “It’s where people can learn about issues of interest. From the Grassroots Grizzlies Advocacy Network web page, you can sign up to receive e-mails – it’s another way to get messages out to people.”

By signing up, participants get password-protected access to the network. They can indicate any existing relationships they have with public officials and volunteer for advocacy activities such as writing letters, making calls or sending e-mails.

Network members eventually will receive legislative updates, information on elections and access to a calendar of events, as well as contact information for legislators at local, state and national levels.
