Grizzlies to face Texas in second round of NCAA Tournament
The back-to-back Summit League regular season and tournament champions have earned their highest-ever seed in the Division I era with a No. 13 seed. The Oakland University men's basketball team (25-9) will face fourth-seeded Texas (27-7) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Tulsa, Okla. the NCAA announced on Sunday.
The game will be shown on CBS and will begin at 12:15 EDT at the BOK Center. The broadcast group for the game is Steve Kerr, Craig Sager and Marv Albert.
The Oakland University Ticket Office will be taking requests for tickets to the game starting on Monday at 9 a.m. Fans can call (248) 370-4000 to order tickets to the game. OU receives only tickets to the session in which it plays; therefore, tickets will be available for the third round only if Oakland defeats Texas. The game time will be determined by the NCAA later during the week.
The Golden Grizzlies earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament as an automatic qualifier as Summit League Tournament Champions. The No. 10 Longhorns earned an at-large bid as runners up in the Big XII.
This is the third appearance for Oakland in the NCAA Tournament in the last seven years. The Golden Grizzlies are 1-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament games.
Second Round: Friday March 18 (BOK Center)
No. 4 seed Texas vs No. 13 seed Oakland - 12:15 p.m. ET
No. 5 seed Arizona vs No. 12 seed Memphis - 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Oakland-Texas game)
Third Round: Sunday, March 20 (BOK Center)
Winner Arizona-Memphis vs Winner Oakland-Texas - TBD
