Michigan Lean Consortium to host Lean assessment training

A training workshop on best practices in Lean assessments will be hosted by the Michigan Lean Consortium (MLC), along with the Oakland University Pawley Lean Institute, on Friday, March 25. The event will be held at the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator in Sterling Heights, Mich. and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Led by Debra Setman, change leader, enterprise supply chain at Johnson & Johnson and MLC vice chair, this active training workshop will allow participants the opportunity to learn critical success factors to create the most value-added Lean assessments possible.

Attendees will learn from Setman’s experiences in conducting over 75 Lean assessments as well as share their personal experiences using them.

According to the MLC, by including appropriate information, assessments can be used as a coaching tool to improve our Michigan organizations.

Jon Wetzel, founder of Lean for Everyone, will then discuss how Lean assessments can be employed in life outside of the workplace.

The cost for the event is $20 for non-members and free for members.

Registration is now open. This event is limited to 30 spaces. To register, e-mail register@michiganlean.org.

The mission of the MLC is to offer a diverse network of knowledgeable Lean professionals who come together to share innovative practices. The organization aims to create a Lean culture in Michigan to ensure sustainable competitive advantage, which could translate into healthier businesses that offer more job opportunities leading to economic growth in the state.

The charter members of the MLC include: Amway, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, DTE Energy, Johnson & Johnson, The Lean Learning Center, Northwestern Michigan College, the Oakland University Pawley Lean Institute and the Michigan Shingo Prize through The Right Place.
