Veterans support consortium improves services through information-sharing

To better serve veterans at Oakland University, OU will share information and best practices with 15 other state universities as part of a state-wide veterans support consortium.

The Michigan Educators Veterans Support Consortium (MEVSC) serves two basic functions to help Michigan colleges improve services to student veterans. One is providing a question-and-answer forum for participating universities. The other is to share best practices among schools in providing services to veterans.

Oakland’s representative in the MEVSC is Ann Besaw, who serves as primary contact for veterans at OU. Besaw will interact with colleagues from other state universities through a new website developed by the MEVSC.

“The use of MEVSC’s website will improve our collective efforts to better serve our student veterans,” said OU Registrar Steven Shablin.
