Speed Networking

Speed Networking

Friday, March 18, 2011
12 - 1 p.m. Lunch and Orientation
1 - 3 p.m. Networking
Oakland Center Banquet Rooms

Do you remember being a student and wishing you had someone to talk to about interviewing, resumes, professional dress and everything else regarding life after graduation?  This event will offer you the opportunity to provide that expertise to the next generation of new OU graduates.

Speed Networking, modeled after the popular speed dating concept, is a way for students to connect with alumni professionals to practice networking and learn about career options.  Students and alumni will be matched for multiple five-minute long sessions.  In each session, you may touch on subjects like those mentioned above as well as what it takes to be a competitive job candidate and the importance of building a professional network.

Lunch will be provided at noon and will include a brief orientation to familiarize yourself with the concept of speed networking.  At 1 p.m. the networking sessions will begin with your first student match.

Student and alumni participants will be matched based on their responses to a short survey, so it's important to be as candid and comprehensive as possible.  Space is limited.

Sponsored by the Oakland University Alumni Association, OU Career Services and the Student Alumni Association.
