State government comes alive with 14th annual OU Day at the Capitol
Oakland University students, faculty and staff have a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of state government at the 14th annual OU Day at the Capitol.
This free event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, and will offer a wide array of activities. Participants will:
Attend OU Alumni in Lansing Panel
Attend group meetings with elected officials
Attend committee meetings
Observe the State Senate and House in session
Lunch in the state capitol with House and Senate members
Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to tour the state capitol, Michigan Supreme Court Learning Center and Michigan Historical Center.
“The annual OU Day at the Capitol is a great opportunity for members of the Oakland University community to watch the legislature in action and meet with elected officials," said Brad Barrett, assistant to the vice president in the Government Relations office. "This event is open to all OU students, faculty, staff and alumni and their participation is encouraged.”
OU Day at the Capitol is sponsored by the OU Office of Government Relations, University Student Congress and the Department of Political Science.
