Kresge Library Student Scholarship

Fall semester, 2010:

Kresge Library introduced the Kresge Library Student Scholarship program to recognize exceptional student employees currently employed at the Library. This new scholarship fund was made possible by many generous donations from the Kresge faculty and staff members Via the All University Fund Drive.

Applicants had to be current student employees, hired before June 1, 2010, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  All student employees meeting these requirements were encouraged to apply for this scholarship by submitting an application and short answer essay.

After a committee comprised of faculty and staff deliberated over the submissions, , four student employees were selected as recipients of the $1,200 scholarship.

When interviewed, Sarah Brooks, a  recipient stated that “it means a lot to me that the Library established a scholarship for its student employees. Having previously worked in other jobs on and off campus, I can say that the Library’s level of appreciation and recognition for their staff far surpasses any other. Working at the Library is great because you know that your employer genuinely cares about your collegiate experience.  Working here has allowed me to have a meaningful job that has enhanced my academic career.”
