Detroit Tigers' Winter Caravan to stop at OU on Jan. 21
A group of Detroit Tigers players and coaches will visit Oakland University at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21 as part of the team’s Winter Caravan of promotional appearances.
The event will take place in the O’rena. Doors will open at 1 p.m., and the first 500 people will receive a poster of Tiger Armando Galarraga. The event is free and open to the public.
Tiger players scheduled to appear include Al Alburquerque, Duane Below, Miguel Cabrera, Audy Ciriaco, Andrew Oliver, Jhonny Peralta, Ramon Santiago, Max Scherzer and Robbie Weinhardt, plus Manager Jim Leyland, Coach Gene Lamont and Tigers mascot Paws.
The first portion of the program will include performances by OU’s Pep Band, Dance Team and Cheerleaders.
Mario Impemba, the voice of the OU Grizzlies and the Detroit Tigers, will emcee the second half of the event, which will feature introductions of the Tigers and a question-and-answer period. A raffle of Tigers prizes also will be held.
