Automotive conversations with a twist: Ignite Automotive 2 set for Feb. 8

We've all heard the authorities speak on the condition of the automotive industry -- from Wall Street, the boardroom, the press and the pundits -- now it's time to let the geeks have the spotlight at the second Ignite Automotive 2 event Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m., at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills.

If you're interested in sharing or hearing innovative, out-of-the-box ideas, Ignite Automotive 2 is for you. Fast-paced, thought-provoking and social, Ignite is a high-energy evening of five-minute talks by people who have an idea—and the guts to get onstage and share it with their hometown crowd. Connected through the global Ignite network, it’s a force for raising the collective IQ and building connections in cities across the globe via video streaming and archives.

As an attendee, you’ll learn about innovative concepts emerging within the industry, while networking with a diverse crowd of those passionate about the industry.

This year's speakers include Anthony Oliver, Brian Mulloy, Doug Van Slembrouck, John Harding, Mike Donoughe, Nick Britsky, Nikunj Jain, Robert Brincheck, Russ Wolfe and Sandy Fiaschetti.

Topics include:

- Two Ton API Client

- The US Auto Industry Must Reclaim Innovation Leadership

- Car Sharing, Turning an Idle Vehicle Into a Profitable Asset

- Why the Auto Industry Needs Open Source

- Anthropomorphism in the Design of Sustainable Vehicles

- Twinkie Cars, Cupcake Mobiles and the Rise of Hackerspaces

Ignite Automotive 2 is  part of Global Ignite Week, which is part of 45 events across five continents during the week of February 7-11. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance online at www.igniteautomotive.org. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the museum.

Ignite Automotive 2 is sponsored by the Center for Integrated Business Research and Education at Oakland University's School of Business Administration, Edict Incorporated, Eisbrenner Public Relations, Society of Automotive Analysts, Original Equipment Suppliers Association and Volkswagen Group of America.

Ignite Automotive is a community event entirely driven by volunteers, from sponsors to organizers to speakers. If you're interested in helping out or have questions, call us at (248) 325-8009 or send us an email at ignite (at) igniteautomotive.org.
