OU commencement ceremonies set for Dec. 11 and 12

Oakland University will honor its August and December graduates at three commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12 in the Oakland University Athletic Arena. Video of the ceremonies will be streamed online; click here to watch them live.

The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, Dec. 11

9 a.m. – School of Business Administration, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing.

1 p.m. – School of Education and Human Services, College of Arts and Sciences and Bachelor of Integrative Studies.

Sunday, Dec. 12

1 p.m. - All masters and doctoral graduates.

Speakers for the undergraduate ceremonies are TARDEC Director Dr. Grace M. Bochenek, at 9 a.m. and OU alumnus Adam L. Kochenderfer, partner at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, at 1 p.m. The speaker for the masters and doctoral ceremony is Dr. Jane Eberwein, distinguished professor emeritus of English.

Musical Theatre major Lisa Michelle Klein will perform the national anthem at each of the undergraduate ceremonies, while Vocal Performance major Margaret W. Burr will perform at the masters and doctoral ceremony.

Doors to the O’rena will be open for guests half an hour before each ceremony. All guests must have tickets and should be seated 15 minutes prior to the processional.

Web users can view the live commencement stream online. The camera will be active only during commencement exercises.

Those planning to attend graduation should review the campus map and parking information. Parking is free and open to the public, except where indicated. In case of inclement weather, information will be available by calling (248) 370-2000 or by tuning in to WWJ or WJR radio stations or Fox2, WDIV-TV or WXYZ-TV.

Each ceremony will be interpreted in sign language. Guests with other special needs should call the Office of the Provost at (248) 370-2190.
