Oakland University’s School of Nursing is Seeking Nominations for Exceptional Nurses

Rochester, MI. – The Oakland University School of Nursing is now accepting nominations for the 23rd Annual Nightingale Awards for Nursing being held on May 5, 2011 at the San Marino Club in Troy, MI. We invite you to nominate the most deserving nurses you know for their distinguished service in the areas of Administration, Advanced Nurse Practice, Education & Research, Long Term Care & Rehabilitation, Nursing in the Community, OU Distinguished Alumni, Staff Nurse and the People’s Choice award.

Awards are given based on nurses’ achievements and community and professional involvement. The People’s Choice award is available for anyone in community to nominate and recognize a nurse whose exceptional care has had a personal, lasting effect in another’s life. Nomination forms are provided online at the Oakland University School of Nursing website www.oakland.edu/nursing. Nominations are due prior to February 1, 2011. All nominations are reviewed and rated by a committee of individuals comprised of nurses from various hospital affiliations and members of the School of Nursing Board of Visitors. Winners and runners-up will be determined in March.

The nine winners and runners-up will be honored publicly at the 23rd Annual Nightingale Awards in Nursing presented by the Detroit Medical Center on May 5, 2011 at the San Marino Club in Troy. Winners will receive a solid bronze statue of Florence Nightingale, a $1,000 check and Nightingale pin while runners-up will receive a plaque and pin. All nominated nurses will receive a certificate of honor.
