Three-university collaboration analyzes CIO insights

This year, Oakland University is hosting the by-invitation-only Michigan CIO Roundtable (MICIOR) Thursday, Nov. 18.

The annual event, which began in 2007, represents the most visible aspect of a three-university research collaboration between OU's School of Business Administration, Wayne State University and Drexel University.

Unique among events for CIOs, through MICIOR CIOs speak to one another about their most important concerns and initiatives as industry leaders instead of hearing lectures from industry experts, pundits or academics. The sessions are not open to the public, so the CIOs are able to speak freely and exchange ideas.

The sessions are videotaped and transcribed for the sole use of the three researchers from the collaborating universities and shared with the participating CIOs. The researchers use anonymous results as a basis for published papers, conference papers and as course material.

An innovative line of research focused on organizational orientation towards information and information systems owes its genesis to the MCIOR, which alternates meeting between OU and WSU.

This year's MICIOR is sponsored by SBA's Center for Integrated Business Research and Education (CIBRE) at OU.

Further information about the MCIOR, including high-level summaries of past Roundtables, future research plans and entry to a mailing list to be invited to future Roundtables and research events, e-mail Dr. Paul Licker (licker@oakland.edu) of OU's SBA.
